Maintaining Stamped Concrete: The Do’s and Don’ts

You just changed your old and tired asphalt driveway to a beautiful new patterned concrete one, so what’s next? One of the most important steps when adding patterned concrete to your home is something you do after all the stones have been laid: pattern concrete sealing. We’ve made it easier for you to learn about the benefits of pattern concrete, what happens during installation, and the do’s and don’t of maintenance. Become an informed consumer, so you know what to expect and how to best treat your driveway to get maximum use out of it!
Leaving your pattern concrete unfinished will subject it to future maintenance problems and earlier deterioration. It will damage easier from salting, winter snow, environmental factors and wear. However, after adding your pattern concrete sealing, your driveway will be protected better and longer from these threats.
Whether you are contacting Seal Tech to seal your new or old pattern concrete, our experts will bring your driveway (back) to life. We guarantee on-time arrival, as well as friendly and courteous service to you and your family! Using a commercial high pressure sprayer, we will first apply a chemical wash to remove any dirt or stains. Then we will personally hand scrub the stones to ensure they are prepped with a clean surface. Next, depending on the coat desired, whether it is natural, wet or semi gloss, we will apply an overlapping coat of sealant. Lastly, in order to ensure the surface is slip resistant, we use a final sealer to remove this danger.
Our professionals ensure your driveway looks brand new and is protected from any potential problems. The final step in the process involves you! Make sure to continually maintain your driveway so it will stay in great condition longer.
Take a look at our Do’s and Don’ts when maintaining stamped concrete:
| DO | DON’T |
| ● Sweep and wash occasionally to avoid any buildup.
● Try and avoid harsh deicing salts for the first winter after sealing. ● Talk to Seal Tech if your surface begins to become dull or lose its shine. ● When resealing try to use the same one as originally put on. |
● Sealer doesn’t automatically need to be re-done every 2-5 years. It is dependant on the environmental conditions, sealant used, and more. Contact our professionals if you’re unsure.
● Power Washers aren’t always needed! A simple garden hose will suffice if there isn’t a lot of buildup. |
At Seal Tech, we have over 15 years of technical knowledge and experience! Contact us today to discuss what you’re looking to have done, your desired outcomes and expectations, as well as to review all of the costs up front. As the summer weather is moving in quickly, you’ll want to get your project done soon so you can start hosting your friends and family over for a barbeque!
